What it does

What Linkrunner tracks on your store

Storefront visits

Page views, traffic source, campaign, ad click IDs, and first and last touch on every storefront page. For ad clicks that continue to an app install, see web-to-app journeys.

Sign-ups

One signup event per signed-in customer in each browser, with their Shopify customer ID as the Linkrunner user ID.

Purchases with revenue

A purchase event from checkout with order value, currency and order ID, attributed to the visit that led to it. Linkrunner's attribution for ecommerce apps covers the app side.

Shop Pay checkouts

A cart attribute carries the visitor ID, so purchases still match when checkout runs on shop.app.

Your own events

Record any other storefront action with lr.track and add it as a column in Web Events.

Setup

Set up Shopify in 5 steps

01

Get your Web project token

Copy it from Settings, Project Details, or create a website project. Duplicate your live theme first so you can roll back.

02

Add the script to your theme

Paste the SDK script tag before </head> in layout/theme.liquid. The URL always serves the latest SDK.

03

Add the cart and sign-up snippets

Paste both below the script. The cart snippet keeps Shop Pay purchases attributed; the sign-up snippet sets the customer ID.

04

Add the checkout pixel

Under Settings, Customer events, add a new custom pixel named Linkrunner, paste the code, then click Save and Connect.

05

Verify

Visit with test UTM parameters, sign in, place an order and check Web Events for page views, one sign-up and a purchase.

Notes and limits

Worth knowing before you launch

Save and Connect are separate actions. A saved but unconnected pixel never runs, the most common reason purchases don't appear.

The sign-up snippet and the pixel send customer email and phone. Delete those lines to keep attribution, campaign reporting and revenue without person-level audiences.

Custom pixels don't run in theme previews, and Shopify's customer privacy settings hold the pixel until the visitor consents.

Some ad blockers stop requests to api.linkrunner.io. Collect through a subdomain of your store, such as lr.yourstore.com, to close the gap. Shopify's admin stays the source of truth for revenue. If your Shopify mobile app is built on Appbrew, see Appbrew.
